Privacy policy

Rust Heatmap has no accounts, no advertising trackers and no analytics of its own. This page sets out what is still recorded when you load it.

Visitors and accounts

You do not sign up to use Rust Heatmap and we ask you for no personal details. There is no login, no profile and no newsletter form.

Access logs

Our web server writes a standard access log for each request. It holds the IP address the request came from, the address of the page or file requested, the time, and the browser identification string sent with it. We keep these logs for a short period to keep the site running and to see which pages are loaded. They are not used to follow anyone across other sites.

Settings stored in your browser

If you change a display setting, such as a light or dark view, that choice is saved in your browser's local storage. It stays on your device and is not sent to us.

Cloudflare

The site is delivered and protected by Cloudflare. Requests to rustheatmap.org pass through Cloudflare's network, which processes the visitor IP address as part of delivering the page. Where Cloudflare judges it necessary to check for automated traffic, it may set a security cookie. That cookie is Cloudflare's, not ours, and we do not read it for any other purpose.

Fonts and third-party files

Fonts are served from this site. Country flags shown on the force wipe countdown come from jsDelivr, a public code and asset host. When your browser loads that file, jsDelivr receives your IP address and the browser details sent with the request. No Google service is loaded on any page.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

Rust Heatmap sets no cookies of its own. We run no analytics script and no advertising or tracking pixel, we do not compile a profile of visitors, and we have nothing about visitors to sell or pass on.

Server data

The server information on this site comes from what public Rust servers publish to the public server list and return to direct queries: server names, player counts, settings, descriptions and images. It concerns servers, not individual players. Player figures are totals for a server at a refresh, not lists of who is connected. See the live player count and the server list for what is shown.

Questions

Q01Does Rust Heatmap use cookies or analytics?

The site sets no cookies of its own and runs no analytics or advertising tracker. Cloudflare, which delivers and protects the site, may set a security cookie when it checks for automated traffic. That cookie is Cloudflare's and we do not use it to build a profile of you.

Q02What does Rust Heatmap record when I open a page?

The web server keeps an ordinary access log: the IP address the request came from, the page or file requested, the time and the browser identification string. Logs are kept for a short period to run the site and see which pages are used. Display settings you change are stored only in your own browser.

Q03Where does the server data on Rust Heatmap come from?

It comes from what public Rust servers publish to the public server list and answer to direct queries, including names, player counts, settings and descriptions. None of it identifies individual players. Player counts are totals per server at each refresh, which happens every five minutes.
